Hosting a Fun, Faith-Filled Birthday Party

Birthdays only come around once a year, so choosing to make it a meaningful time for our loved ones is both wise and kind. It’s all too easy to get swept up in the planning and the decor, but infusing the Truth into these gatherings can make all the difference. Here’s the Truth I’m talking about:

The Lord designed every aspect of the person you will be celebrating! And then He chose to bless the world with them. As you plan to host a get-together to celebrate this amazing God-given life, why not take a few moments to make it truly meaningful by:

1. Choosing one Scripture as your theme for the get-together.

For crafters or a casual girls evening, host a “Wonderfully Made” party using Bible journaling supplies. You can gift the guest of honor this Be Still organization bag full of cards and other goodies so she can remember the moment.

Or choose Isaiah 60:19 as your theme: “The sun will no longer be your light by day, and the brightness of the moon will not shine on you. The Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your splendor.” You could decorate with Christmas lights on the deck (no matter what time of year), play worship songs that encompass the word “light” in them and as a hostess gift, give the guest of honor a gift that matches the theme.

Will you be hosting an elegant tea party? Ephesians 5 tells us that we are to walk in love just as Christ Jesus offered Himself up as a fragrant offering to be savored. As you savor both friendship and delicious tea, offer encouragement to your guests by using Encouragement Cards as place cards. The Walk In Love ceramic tumbler would be a sweet gift to send home with the birthday girl.

2. Making milestones meaningful.

Celebrate milestone birthdays in a special way! Each of these ideas will continue to be a blessing to your guest of honor until his or her next birthday rolls around.

» Write down 30 encouraging Scriptures or compliments about the birthday boy or girl.

» Celebrate someone who is turning 40 by giving them 40 greeting cards.

» Hang up 50 photos of the person who is turning 50.

» Create a banner that reads “For I know the plans I have for you…” that all guests can sign upon arrival.

Each of these milestone ideas can easily be a group gift! Have each guest contribute a favorite Scripture, bring a greeting card with a message of hope and love written inside the card, and hang up a favorite photo upon arrival at the party. As you create the banner, leave extra space so that guests can write a memory on the banner of one way they have seen God at work in the life of the guest of honor.

3. Using inspirational tableware to eliminate stress in a beautiful way.

When it comes to events, we want the decor to be beautiful, the food to be scrumptious, and our guests to be touched! How fun to use inspirational tableware! You could decorate with this Grateful metal serving tray and Generous Hearts decorative bread board - And when the night is over, your guest of honor can take them home as a gift!

When it comes to events, we have a checklist: send out the invitations, prepare or purchase great tasting food, display beautiful decorations, and find just the right gift. But let’s not lose track of the most important aspect of any meaningful birthday party: celebrating the gift of your loved one! It is a joy and a blessing to celebrate the wonderfully made life of the loved one God has given you! Send a birthday Ecard the morning of, and then invite your faith to join the celebration as you cherish the blessing of another year with the birthday boy or girl.
