She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. PROVERBS 31:17 NIV

Let’s kick this devotion off with an inspirational story—one to consider as we dive into what it means to make the most of what God has given us: Jody, who used a wheelchair, was one of the strongest women in her group of friends. And not just “strong” in the sense that she was inspirational, which she certainly was. But I mean she was physically strong. She swam laps three times a week. She used her bulging biceps to transfer herself in and out of the chair. Once a week she was part of a dance troupe. And every month she went rock climbing at a local climbing wallThere were certainly ways in which her body didn’t cooperate in doing all the things she would like to do, but she was a faithful steward of what her body could do.

As you consider what it’s going to look like to discover the gift of you, I am encouraging you to make the best choices for your body.

The author of Proverbs describes the woman who has it going on in all areas of her life. I mean, in a moment in history when women were often expected to be subservient, she was a boss. And she was able to apply herself to all the things she had going in her life because she was physically strong.

All of our bodies have limitations, but we can choose to make the most of them when we prioritize investing in our health and wellness.

Consider how you are treating your body these days and how your body is treating you! Journal about any changes you’d like to make in order to live well.

God, I believe that You knit me together in my mother’s womb and that You designed me to honor You with my body. Help me to be the best steward of my body I can be, for Your glory. Amen.
