May you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high His love really is. EPHESIANS 3:18 TLB

God loves us when the darkness is longer than we feared it would be. God loves us when the hurt leaves a wound wider than we think we can bear. God loves us when the valley is lower than we worried it would be and when the mountain is higher than we expected. God’s love really is unconditional and beyond understanding. It’s always active but not always felt.

Paul’s prayer for us to be able to feel and understand the infinite love of our Father was spoken from a heart swelled with hope. It was preceded by a prayer that our roots would dig deeper into the truth of God’s love, be watered by His Word, and remain anchored in His grace. We’re on a lifelong adventure in the hands of a sovereign God. Our purpose is to learn to love Him more and more so we become the hands, feet, and voice of His love and grace in this challenging world. We’ll have times when we feel His love, and we’ll have times when in reflection, we understand His love. In all things, at all times, the hope is that we’ll trust God no matter what—because perfect love is an infallible guide.

Your love is my anchor and authority, Lord. Increase my understanding and build my trust.
