My hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the LORD’’s declaration. I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at My word. ISAIAH 66:2 CSB

Some people spend their entire lives looking for their purpose. They think self-discovery is a matter of digging deep, of getting to the root of why they’re here. They plow and harrow, strive and toil, but in the end, their search bears no fruit.

It’s easy to find any number of self-help books promising revelation of your true purpose by following a few simple steps. Social media delivers provocative advice in snackable sound bites and snippets. We’re constantly pressured to measure up—to our enlightened selves, others’ highlight reels, and society’s unattainable ideals.

In many circles, the message is: be more, do more, achieve more. Create a life you love and that others approve of by constantly striving for more.

There isn’t a self-help book in existence that will reveal your true purpose as God does. Discovering your purpose starts with trust, not a checklist. It looks more like resting than hustling. It trades accomplishments for contentment. Don’t misunderstand; God has work for us to do on earth. Our purpose comes from discovering His truth, not our own. And God always equips us for our calling and shows us the way.

In Him, we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28 CSB). God has you where you are on purpose and for a purpose. He’s calling you to grow where you’re planted. Because when you trust and follow God, you can be sure you’ll put down roots exactly where they should be.

God, I want to know Your purpose for me. Help me to recognize Your truth from the world’s lies. Give me discernment. Give me courage. Equip me to do Your good work. Grow me where You plant me, God. Amen.
