The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. PROVERBS 16:9

Back in college, my friends and I went to a career fair. Before attending, I researched the companies I wanted to go see. There was one company I didn’t feel good about, but my friend talked me into taking a look at it. On the day of the fair, I went to their booth first. I talked to them about my experience, my major, and what I loved doing. After a few minutes, I said my goodbyes and made sure my resume was one of the firsts on their pile. A day or so later, I received an email requesting another interview. That ended up being my first job out of college. It was perfect and more than I could have ever dreamed of!

I don’t know why I had doubts about approaching that company, but I am glad I took the risk. Sometimes we need those nudges from our friends and those close to us to push us out of our comfort zones so that we can live out what God has planned for our lives. If my friend had not done this for me, I would have missed out on a great job.

We can talk ourselves out of so many things, but what if we tried them instead? When we break out and take some risks in life, we never know what God might have in store for us. Even one simple change can lead to many amazing things.

Where do we have the opportunity to take some risks? Perhaps it is getting back out in the dating world or applying for that position that may seem out of reach. Maybe it’s connecting with a new friend, or trying out a new recipe, a new church, a new pair of shoes . . . the options are endless. Hope for the best, and consider it a fun new adventure. We will never know unless we try!

GO FOR IT!

Today, think of some things that you’ve been too afraid to do, and decide to do at least one of them. Break free of the chains that hold you back and move forward into a new direction. You never know the amazing things God has in store for you. Take a chance!
