You Are Strong and Courageous

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. JOSHUA 1:9
It’s comforting to know that God is with us wherever we go. Sometimes we can feel that we’re alone or that He’s left us, but truly He’s by our side always! We need strength and courage in our daily lives in order to boldly live out the plans God has for us. Of course, there are seasons of life that require more strength and courage than others. So how do we do this? Strength means more than just physical ability; we can be strong in our faith too. As we grow deeper in our faith with the Lord, we can trust in Him more. It is comforting to know He’s by our side and that we can call upon Him at any time. Just as consistent physical exercise builds muscle, we grow stronger in faith when we practice relying on God for our needs. Often when we face trials we can stray from God, when we should be moving toward Him instead.
Sometimes we need courage when God calls us out of our comfort zone to live boldly for Him. There are moments when we feel prompted to do something out of the blue, maybe talk to someone or pay for someone’s drink in the line ahead of us or smile at a stranger. These are promptings from the His Spirit within us to share God’s love with others.
This can go even deeper when we have a strong urging from God to make a big life change such as move to a different city or start a new job. We can’t take these proddings lightly. One courageous step could lead to amazing things. I’m sure we can all think of a situation in our lives when acting on a prompting from God has led us to something great. That took courage!
GO FOR IT!
Next time a positive nudge comes up, act on it. Live boldly in these moments because they can be from the Lord, even if it’s something small like buying the drink for the car ahead of you in line at a coffee shop. You could make that person’s day when they need it the most. How do you feel about being strong and courageous, and how can you show others how to be as well? Maybe through your acts, you can help others be bold and do the same!
