Whatever You Do...

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. COLOSSIANS 3:23 NIV

In his letter to the church as Colossae, Paul exhorts his listeners to do everything with all their hearts, and I want to extend the same challenge to you when it comes to setting and reaching your goals. Yes, you’re going to keep your eyes on the finish line—whether that’s literally the finish line of a 5K or it’s launching your online side hustle.  But in order to make it to the finish line, I want to encourage you to be faithful in the small things.

Maybe you can imagine a world where you’re selling the jewelry you make online. But there are little baby steps you need to take to get you there—and making the jewelry is just one of them! You’ve got to build a website or create an online store. You’ve got to figure out how you’re going to reach potential customers. You may need to advertise. (You may need to find someone who knows how to do those thingsKeep reading, because that’s where we’re headed together.)

The key to reaching the finish line is to take one step. And then the next oneAnd then the next one. Be faithful, moment by moment, to do the small things necessary to reach your goals.

In this section you’ve considered and set a few goals for yourself. Choose one of those and consider what “baby steps” you’ll need to take to make it to the finish line. List them all here.

God, I confess that I can get distracted by the big thing and neglect doing the smaller things You ask of me dailyGive me the wisdom and courage to take the baby steps. Amen.
