What to Say to those Needing Help

Fresh out of seminary, the young pastor pored over his notes. His teachers had taught him well, and he relished the thought of planting a new church. But planning a church in theory was far different than pulling it off in reality. How on earth was he going to get everything to work the way he wanted to get it off the ground?
He, like each of us, needs to remember where his help comes from. Whenever we’re in a situation that’s clearly over our heads, we instinctively turn to each other, to books, to tools, or to whatever we can find to work out a way for us to win. But God’s Spirit tells us to look in a different direction: up!
Throughout Scripture, we see just how much God loves to help His people who ask Him for wisdom. It’s also full of stories of people who forgot God and tried to go it on their own. The differing results are dramatic. When we look to God for help in both the big and small events of our lives, we see heaven respond with supernatural strength and speed. God’s help reaps eternal impact and strengthens our faith in the process.
