Waiting with Patience

My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my hope is from Him. PSALM 62:5 NASB

Waiting. Standing by. Staying put. Resting. Remaining. Being patient.

The attributes of waiting are easier said than done when time moves on while we feel stuck.

Waiting. Pent up. Stopped. Wasting time. Unmoving. Immobile. Blocked. Lagging.

That’s more how waiting feels, right?

What if we could transform how we think and feel about waiting? What if we don’t need to carry the burden of anguish that the concept of waiting conjures?

What if we waited with patience?

Patience: the capacity to accept delay without getting upset. Endurance. Calmness. Composure. Serenity. Tranquility. That sounds better, doesn’t it?

Like a seed growing into a shoot and breaking through the soil at the right time, we can wait with patience knowing God is working during our waiting.

We see time dragging on, but God sees transformation taking place.

We perceive ourselves hitting a wall, but God recognizes the breakthrough moment coming.

We feel disillusioned and distressed, but God has contentment for us in His hands.

The key to waiting patiently is waiting in God’s presence. It’s running to Him in prayer. It’s seeking Him in His Word. It’s calling out His name and telling Him your heart’s desires. Do this and trust Him to meet you where you are. Trust Him to quiet your soul.

Waiting with patient hope in God. Expectation. Anticipation. Excitement. Readiness. Confidence. Assurance.

Changing how we think changes how we feel. When we alter our perspective on waiting from what we lack to what God is doing, we experience His peace.

God, it’s hard for me to wait sometimes. I feel impatient and upset when I don’t understand why I’m waiting. Transform my heart and mind in these seasons. Help me to wait with patience. Remind me that You are working. Send peace and hope to my soul while I wait on You.
