The Power of Purpose

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!

Tie them around your neck as a reminder.

Write them deep within your heart.

Then you will find favor with both God and people,

and you will earn a good reputation.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek His will in all you do,

and He will show you which path to take.

There is great power in the life of someone who has a God-given purpose to fulfill, whose heart is passionate about that purpose, and whose will is set on fulfilling it. The plans of God for our lives should excite us, motivate us, and energize us to seek Him with all our being. His plans are only good, only right, only pure, and only the best.

Children need guidance and direction. They need to understand why they are here, where they are going, and how they will get there. They need to know that their lives have a God-given purpose waiting to be fulfilled. Parents need to pray that their children will know the plan God has for them, the path they are to follow, the steps they need to take, the direction they need to go, the dangers they need to avoid, the pace they need to travel, and the final destination of their journey.

Tomorrow we will learn more about praying for a life of purpose, following God’s will in all we do. We will pray intentionally about trusting His plan for our lives and the gratefulness we have in knowing He has given us full access to who He is. Today, prepare your heart for this time of devotion with this short prayer:

Lord, You have a purpose for each one of our lives. You have created us for a reason, planting us wherever we are for Your glory. Thank You for including us in Your story. Continue to give us a hunger for Your Word, an assurance of Your guidance, and unending certainty in Your goodness.
