The Need to Lead

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1 NLT

Which would you rather be, a leader or a follower? Most people would say they want to be a leader because leading seems much more important. And following sounds so namby-pamby. But when Jesus called His disciples, He said, “Come, follow me” (Matthew 4:19 NIV). Following Christ is the first step to success. The second is to join with other believers, the great cloud of witnesses, who will cheer you on and whom you also will cheer on. Next, let go of sin and worldly hindrances that are holding you back or dragging you down. Finally, don’t quit before you reach the finish line!

FAITH CHECK

In this world, the way up the ladder to success is by any means necessary, often at the expense of others. But the way of the gospel is to work hard and succeed God’s way, and to consider others before yourself. You can’t climb the ladder of success wrong by wrong.
