The Best Way

Be humble and gentle. EPHESIANS 4:2 TLB
With progress comes pressure. As technology races forward, it paints the illusion that our lives are less stressful because everything can be done more efficiently and with greater ease. All the while the world feels a collective need to slow down. Having nearly everything doable at our fingertips through our phones, we miss what makes life worth living—the people in them. God designed the best way to the best life, and it highlights building and nurturing relationships. Humility and gentleness have sadly given way to competitiveness and hurried or harsh responses. We can’t be in a rush twelve hours a day and expect to have a fulfilling life. We can’t have our minds weighted with worry and work demands and expect to be humble and gentle with the people around us. Putting our phones down pulls our eyes, hearts, and minds upward. We’re able to simply be present.
When we’re present with our people, God is pleased. Love is ignited. Peace starts to surface. All the good things God intended come into focus. It’s a gift to be humble and gentle, because they’re by-products of love—and filling the world with love will take us to a better place than technology ever will.
Keep my eyes on the prize, Lord. Yours is the love people need to see through me.
