Servant's Heart, Grateful Heart

A servant’s heart is a grateful heart. How can this be? Taking meals to shut-ins illuminates your freedom to come and go as you please. Giving to families in need ignites the brevity that their situation could easily be yours. Buying toys and coats for children in less fortunate homes brings back memories of a day when others came through for you. Serving others is serving Jesus. It’s being Christ’s eyes for seeing those in need, and His arm for extending His compassion. The reward is a grateful heart as you realize that He reaches for You the same way you reach out to others.

Do God’s will from your heart. Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatever good each one does… he will receive this back from the Lord. (Ephesians 6:6-8 HCSB)

For the Son of Man came not to be cared for. He came to care for others. (Matthew 20:28 NLV)

For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the One who serves. (Luke 22:27 ESV)

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. (II Corinthians 9:11 NIV)

Father, thank You for Your supreme example of serving others. Help me to see their needs as You do. Help me be sensitive to how and when You want me to move and serve in Your spirit of love. Amen.
