Psalm 19
The Bible tells us all of creation testifies to the greatness of God. Looking up at the heavens and gazing at God's beautiful creation around us can change our perspective on the stresses we face. That's because we switch from looking inward to gazing at the handiwork of God that ranges from the unknown heights of the universe to the smallest reach of our fingertips. God is so great and vast, He is bigger than anything we face, yet He cares for His creation down to the smallest detail.
Tonight, close your eyes and meditate on the goodness of God. He is not only the Creator of the world but your creator. You bear His image and are a beautiful part of His creation. He is waiting to lift your burdens and give you rest. He wants to soothe your soul and renew your spirit with His truth. Allow tonight's psalm to bring the peace that you long for.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world...
The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statues of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes...
The decrees of the LORD are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb...
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in Your sight,
LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
PSALM 19:1-4, 7-10, 14
ADORATION: Contemplate the wonderful work of God's hands in creation. Thing about the beauty of the stars against the night sky and the brilliance of the sun's rays touching the earth as it travels from morning to evening. In the same way, His brilliance shines upon you, keeping you warm and safe. Praise Him for the work of His hands.
CONFESSION: Invite God to search your heart and examine your ways. Ask God to help you keep His commands. Surrender to the peace He gives when you confess and repent.
THANKSGIVING: Rejoice in the name of the Lord. Praise Him for the wonderful works He has done and for the beautiful creation He has made. Praise Him for His goodness in all of creation.
SUPPLICATION: Father, Your creation is so amazing! Let me not go through a day without noticing Your beautiful handiwork and design in the world around me. Enlarge my heart to appreciate the love You've expressed through the wonders in nature and in me. I now rest in You tonight-all glory to You. Amen.
