Nobody’s Perfect

He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.” Genesis 5:2 NLT
By this point in the story, people have failed a lot. After God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden, we see people hurting each other and continuing to disobey God. Everything is still relatively new, yet they can’t seem to make things right. But that doesn’t stop God from loving and caring for them, does it? Even after people kept sinning, God didn’t turn away from his creation. The Bible reaffirms that God made human beings special and that he has blessed them. Our shortcomings do not prevent God from seeking us out and showing us grace.
There are days when we moms can’t understand ourselves, let alone our children. We are intricate, complex beings by God’s design, and that can make parenting frustrating! Although we think things that shock us (Where did that come from?), say things that disappoint us (Did that really just come out of my mouth?), and do things that confuse us (Why in the world did I do that?), none of it catches God off guard. He is not surprised by our sins or our shortcomings but stands ready to redeem them. God takes our mistakes and turns them into blessings. Whatever regrets you may have in mothering, put them in God’s care. He is prepared to handle them. Trust God to turn your regrets into a deeper relationship with him and with your children.
Nobody, not even God, is expecting perfection from you! He made you who you are and is ready to bless you.
