Meet Delight Ministries

At DaySpring, we believe in uniting together with ministries that love the Lord and love others. We want to come alongside them and partner together to share the life-changing message of God’s love with everyone. Delight Ministries is one of these partners that we believe is changing lives through their women’s ministry on college campuses all across the United States.

As we enter 2020, DaySpring wants to focus on loving God and loving others above all else. We’ll be walking alongside you in this journey and reminding you of ways you can grow in understanding and sharing His love. God’s love is the force that unites us all, just as God’s love unites college women in Christ-centered community through Delight Ministries. Meet Delight below as they share their story and mission.

We here at Delight are big believers in stories. Stories that move and inspire, take our breath away, stop us in our tracks and change us forever. Delight was created as a platform for college women to not only share their stories, but also as a place to allow God to write stories more beautiful than we could ever even fathom. 

Let us tell you the story of Delight.

Two freshman girls meet at Belmont University and become best friends. On the last day of freshman year the two girls go to dinner with another friend and talk the whole time about how AWESOME God is. The three girls go home for summer. One works as a waitress, one goes to Alaska for a mission experience, and the other sells knives. When they return in the fall, the girls go to church together. On the way home, one girl asks the other two if they want to start a bible study and they immediately say yes, as they had felt God nudging them over the summer. They meet in the bell tower on campus two weeks later on a Friday morning for “bible study”. Twenty other girls come. They name bible study Delight. Delight girls cook dinner together, study the word together, serve hot chocolate to the homeless together, love on refugee kids together, stand for freedom together, wash cars together and learn to live more like Christ together. Nine months later Delight has grown from three to just under one hundred. The three girls are amazed and bewildered at all that God has done in and through Delight. 

What makes this story different is where the significance lies. You won’t find it in the characters, or the setting, the climax, the dialogue, or even the theme. This story isn't actually about the story at all. It’s about the author. An author that could take three sophomoric, average and ordinary girls and write his own beautiful story through them. An author that led unworthy and undeserving girls to start a bible study that would eventually grow into a nation-wide ministry devoted to serving college women. This story is about the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace. God is the ultimate author, the ultimate visionary and the ultimate dreamer. We are so honored to be the characters of this story, but are so thankful that we don’t hold the pen in our hands. We leave the real story writing to the greatest storyteller of all time.

Our mission is to invite college women into Christ-centered community that fosters vulnerability and transforms stories.

+ CHRIST-CENTERED COMMUNITY

The primary activity of Delight Ministries is to launch, grow and sustain Christ-centered women's communities at college campuses across the country. We work with passionate college women who yearn for deeper community on their campus by providing them with the training, tools, resources and encouragement needed to start and lead a Delight chapter. 

Delight is more than just a bible study! Each community meets weekly to share stories of God at work. They also incorporate worship nights, opportunities to serve and fun get-togethers that help foster relationships. We fully believe in doing life together. Delight provides the opportunity for hundreds of women to Delight in the Lord together throughout their college journey. 

+ FOSTER VULNERABILITY

The heart of Delight Ministries is to provide an environment for women to vulnerably share about how Christ has been at work in their lives. Our curriculum is made of stories from college women sharing about the ups and downs of their faith journeys. We've heard stories of depression, loneliness, heartbreak, identity crisis and pain, but the common theme throughout them all is that even still, God is good. 

These stories are paired with scripture and discussion questions and are used weekly by all Delight communities. Stories of real women opens the door for authentic conversations and deep-rooted relationships. We truly believe in the power of vulnerability and how it impacts our relationship with Christ and others. 

+ TRANSFORM STORIES

It's so easy to walk through college and never encounter true community or a relationship with Jesus. Delight Ministries desires to change the college experience for women everywhere by helping them to transform their stories. We believe that transformation happens when we live fully invested in pursuing Christ, vulnerability and community. Our stories become no longer about us, but rather about Christ in us.
