Make an Impact

What does it take to make an impact

on the lives of others for the glory of God?

Do we need to be strategically connected,

impressively gifted, or abundantly funded?

Is it dependent on our looks, education, or résumé?

Does it really, in the final analysis, even have

that much to do with any specifics that define us?

Time and again, significant impact comes

from the sum of small kindnesses each of us can do—

things like a listening ear, an encouraging word,

or a simple cup of cold water for a thirsty soul.

Sometimes, God’s transforming presence is felt best

through our smallest expressions of selfless love.

Today’s Reading: 1 Peter 4:10-11

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
