Loving Because Of God’s Grace

So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27 NLT
Some days it feels so difficult to love our kids. Not because we don’t love them, but because their actions or attitudes—or just as likely, our own—get in the way. God understands our limited view and offers us “the grace lens.” His grace has the power to change our perspective, soften our view, and remove anything that keeps our hearts from seeing another’s worth. Seeing another person’s worth gives us a supernatural ability to love unconditionally—and it’s the truest way for us to show people God’s love for them.
Here, in the beginning, we see that God made us with special intention. God took great care at the beginning of all life to create a world that was good, but He did something special when He created human beings. Genesis 1:26-28 gives us a glimpse of the inherent worth of all people. God created us in His image, to be like Him. God also gave human beings an important job to do: We are meant to create, encourage life, and watch over all the earth.
When it is difficult to love our kids, when it is difficult to be kind to ourselves as mothers, the dignity and worth that God has given to all people is still true. The story of how God created us can remind us of our children’s inherent worth. This truth will help us do the very important job God gave us as mothers: to watch over and care for our children.
God’s grace empowers us to love our children selflessly and supernaturally.
