Let God Have it All

Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey Him and to cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days. DEUTERONOMY 30:20 TLB

We don’t have to reach a certain age to have a clearer perspective about the best way to live simpler, more meaningful lives. Centenarians are often interviewed for their secrets to longevity. There are some common denominators: regular exercise, time to de-stress, being part of a community (often a religious one), and commitment to family.

We can start practicing one of those right now. “Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you” (I Peter 5:7 TLB). If we can fine-tune our thought life every day to the Word of God, we can live with more joy than we ever thought possible. Joy is strength. A cheerful heart is good medicine. Laughter has been referred to as “internal aerobics.”

Joy is not a feeling; it’s a force. It’s powerful and palpable. It’s contagious and courageous. It’s living proof to a dark world that we have a loving, kind, and faithful Father who has our back and every single one of our burdens. The more joy we cultivate in our lives, the stronger we become and the brighter we shine.

Live lightly today and be a light to others. Give God the glory and the gratefulness for the gift of another day to love on our people, help in our community, and enjoy the simple moments. They’re passing quickly, but not without meaning when we pay attention and appreciate each one. The love that has no end has us, and when we put our trust in it, everything falls perfectly into place.

Dear God, You are my life and the light that leads me through my days. I want to rest in Your perfect love and make the most of my moments for Your glory and Your purpose.
