God of All Comfort

When I had foot trouble, I first tried to self-medicate. I tried some ice. I tried some rub. I tried some chilling oil. I did the best I could to comfort myself. But sometimes pain can get so bad, and life’s swelling can get so big, that you need to go to a professional.
Second Corinthians 1:3–4 says, “Praise be to God . . . who comforts us in all our troubles” (NIV). On the one hand, this is wonderful because it promises comfort. And on the other hand, it promises troubles. Trouble relates to the pain of life that comes your way as an occupant of planet earth, and even intensifies as a follower of Jesus Christ. In trouble, we need help to deal with that which is causing us to suffer.
No matter what your trouble is, God is an amazing Comforter! You may think your situation is too big, too difficult, or too shameful. But He promises comfort in ANY situation. You are NOT disqualified from comfort. No matter what, keep living. Because Comfort knows your address, and God will come alongside you to help.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. II CORINTHIANS 1:3-4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. PSALM 23:4
For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. II CORINTHIANS 1:5
Father, there are times when I am desperate for Your comfort. Help me to perceive it. And help me to comfort those who need it in their times of trouble.
