Freely Forgiven

I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus. I JOHN 2:12 NLT

People think I’m crazy, and I am certainly the odd one out here. But deep down I really enjoy responding with “Nope! I’m sweet enough” when someone asks if I need extra sugar. There’s one restaurant in town that almost never gets my order right. I ask for unsweetened tea and take a big gulp, and it’s SWEET. I am disgusted, but my husband, Chris, is thrilled because he gets double the refreshments. I’ve mostly given up on this famous fast-food chain unless I’m not feeling particularly thirsty.

He hasn’t stopped coming in our door, though, and He never will. He gives us grace we don’t give ourselves. Even when we mess up, He forgives us and gives us another chance. He’s loving, He’s forgiving, and He’s reassuring. Even when we don’t deserve chance after chance, praise the Lord that He doesn’t give up on us.
