Find Your Strength in God

Give yourselves completely to God. Stand against the devil, and the devil will run from you. JAMES 4:7 NCV

Being obedient to God and standing firm in His strength is the key to overcoming the lies we are sometimes tempted to believe. When we lean on the Lord and on His promises, submitting to Him as our source of strength, we find hope. It is only by submitting to Him and obeying His commands that we can access His power and strength.

John 10:10 tells us that the devil is a cunning adversary who is always looking for ways to steal, kill, and destroy us. He has been perfecting his strategies for a long time, and he knows how to get us off track. However, when we stand under God’s authority, Satan will flee from us. The Lord of heaven’s armies will back us up when we serve Him wholeheartedly.

We cannot overcome Satan on our own, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Only by surrendering to God’s will and following the leading of His Holy Spirit can we create a situation in which Satan knows he cannot win. We must confess our sins before God and remove every foothold of the enemy in our lives.

Consider for a moment God’s amazing gift of strength and thank Him for His mercy and grace in your own life. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of how to persevere and rely upon the Father. He set aside His own personal desires for the benefit of mankind, and He submitted Himself in obedience to God’s will.

As we ask the Holy Spirit to help us submit our whole hearts to Christ, we are not alone. Jesus was intimately acquainted with the task of resisting Satan, and He overcame the devil in the strength of His Father. We, too, can overcome the attacks of the enemy by standing firm in the strength of Christ.

Let us give ourselves to God every day and in every way. As we submit to Him and obey His commandments, we will access His power and strength, and Satan will flee from us. The victory is already ours in Christ. Fear not, for He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I look to You and praise You for Your greatness and Your power. I worship You for the deliverance found in Your presence. I praise You for overcoming the world. God, I bless Your name, for through the blood of Your Son, Jesus, You have made Your victory my own. Amen.
