Daily devotion

“Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. Matthew 14:29
Peter took a bold step of faith when Jesus called him to walk on water. But he trusted the voice of his Lord. He miraculously defied the laws of nature. Is there something God has been calling you to do? An impression that seems so far-fetched that you’ve been dismissing it? You think, Surely, I didn’t hear it right. Are you certain, God? Yet that same evening in the grocery store, you run into a former coworker who—out of the blue—mentions that very far-fetched idea. Then you go to church on Sunday and the pastor speaks about boldly following God’s plan. When praying that night, you feel a yearning—and while it’s exciting, it’s also scary. What will people think? It’s a radical idea. Jesus invited Peter to walk on water, and he did. There is nothing too far-fetched for God. He is in the business of making the impossible possible. So maybe it’s time to take that big bold step out of the boat and walk toward his voice.
It’s encouraging to know that God sees every selfless act we do on behalf of our children. He loves to watch us share his love with our children. But do we see him? Are we looking for him? Are we staying in tune with what he is trying to show us or where he is trying to lead us? Make no mistake: When God wants to get a message to you, he has many means—his Word, his people, his creation, and the gentle nudges that the Holy Spirit puts in your heart and mind compelling you to go a certain way or do a certain thing. Is this you right now? If so, keep watch, listen for his voice, and let him know you’re ready to walk through the door that’s about to open.
Trust God’s calling when it comes. Step out in faith; he’ll be right there with you.
