Daily devotion

There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven: . . . a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance. ECCLESIASTES 3:1, 4
Time is one of the most important measures we used for getting from one point to another, whether on a road trip or going through life. And the rule of thumb in this day is, the faster you get somewhere, the better. In some cases, this may be true, but on the path of grief, there is no timetable to meet. When traveling a journey of restoration, time may even stand still, and that’s as it should be.
Just as the depths of wounds vary in size and destruction, everyone has their own pace for picking up the broken pieces of their heart and mending them back together. There simply isn’t room for one to compare the amount of time he or she needs with someone else’s.
God gives time in perfect portion in relation to what He knows we need. May we take one day at a time and rest in how fast or how slow He leads.
Lord, thank You for the gift of time. Please guard my heart and my mind from comparing how much time I need for healing with someone else’s. Help me to rest in each day that You give me to process and repair my life. I want to be whole again, and You know best how to get me to that point. I love You and trust in Your lead.
IN JESUS’ NAME, I PRAY. AMEN.
