Daily devotion

You are never alone. Jesus is here, and He wants to comfort you. As you settle down for the night, focus on your Savior. Think about how much He loved you in order to die for you on the cross, where His love was poured out for you. Know He understands the anguish you have felt in the past and the stress you are feeling tonight. He is ready to carry your burdens and replace them with His peace and hope. Open your heart to hear God's voice. Ask for His Word to restore your soul as you focus on the wonderful plans He has for your future.
My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?
Why are You so far from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but You do not answer,
by night, but I find no rest...
All who see me mock me;
they hurl insults, shaking their heads...
Yet You brought me out of the womb;
You made me trust in You, even at my mother’s breast...
Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near
and there is no one to help...
My heart has turned to wax;
it has melted within me...
But You, LORD, do not be far from me.
You are my strength; come quickly to help me...
You who fear the LORD, praise Him!...
For He has not despised or scorned
the suffering of the afflicted on;
He has not hidden His face from him
but has listened to his cry for help...
All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before Him,
for dominion belongs to the LORD
and He rules over the nations.
PSALM 22:1-2, 7, 9, 11, 14, 19, 23-24, 27-28
ADORATION: Imagine a time when there will be no troubles, no stress, no worries, no suffering-a time when everyone will bow before the Lord and worship Him. What a joyful time that will be, as we all praise the Lord together! Allow that thought to lighten your heart and ease your mind. Rest in His presence and allow His love for you, as evidenced by His sacrifice on the cross, to be real to you tonight.
CONFESSION: Think of a time when you were in need and God seemed so far away from you. Confess any anger you had toward Him and allow His forgiveness to soften your heart. Remind yourself once more that He is always there for you, even when you can't feel Him nearby.
THANKSGIVING: Rejoice in God's faithfulness. Praise God for the times He has delivered you from your troubles. Praise Him for suffering on your behalf so that you may experience His joy, love, and grace tonight as you lie down to sleep.
SUPPLICATION: Father, I turn my heart to You tonight and call out to You for help. I give You my fears and anxiety. I ask that You deliver me from all the "what ifs" that try to take over my thoughts. Help me recall the times You've been faithful to provide and bless my way. Give me peaceful rest through this night. I trust in You, O Lord. Amen.
