Jesus the Alpha and the Omega

In the last book of the Bible, Revelation, Jesus says to John (the author of the book), “I am the Alpha and the Omega . . . who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8). Similarly, God says in the Old Testament: “I am the first and I am the last; apart from Me there is no God” (Isaiah 44:6b).

So, what does that mean?

When Jesus says He is the beginning and the end, He is reminding us that He always was and always will be. While so many things (and, certainly, people) come and go, He never will. Jesus is always with us and will always be with us. He was there when the world was created, and He will be there long after it has gone. Nothing is certain, nothing stays the same but Jesus.

When you find yourself at your lowest point, when everything is stacked against you or piling on top of you, turn to Jesus. He is your everything. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the One you can trust completely and forever.
