There are so many things to fear in life, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed and defeated. When we face these difficult emotions, however, we can turn to our God, who is a God of comfort. He is a stronghold that isn't moved by fear. And when we cling to Him, who or what is there to be afraid of? He is our Protector, our Redeemer, our Confidence. He is also our safe place to land when we lie down to renew our spirit and body at the end of each day.

Turn to Him now and receive His blessed presence all around you. Soak in these verses as your own and let them give you peace.

The LORD is my light and my salvation -
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life -
of whom shall I be afraid?...
Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear...
For in the day of trouble
He will keep me safe in His dwelling;
He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me;
at His sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy...
Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek His face!”
Your face, LORD, I will seek...
Though my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will receive me.
Teach me Your way, LORD;
lead me in a straight path
because of my oppressors...
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the LORD.
PSALM 27:1, 3, 5-8, 10-11, 13-14

ADORATION: Take a few moments to ponder the goodness of God as described in this psalm. Allow His hope to bring you comfort. Thank Him for the love you feel in your heart as He sustains you through this night.

CONFESSION: Think of a time when you did not place your confidence in God. Confess any doubts you have about His goodness and faithfulness. Ask God to help you be confident in Him tonight.

THANKSGIVING: Praise God for His help in the past, in the present, and for what He will do in your future. Thank Him for the never-ending hope He gives, even when you are dealing with overwhelm or defeat.

SUPPLICATION: Lord, tonight I release myself and my fears into Your hands and draw my strength from You. Help me to live out the confidence You give no matter what I face. You are my Stronghold, my Help, and my Shelter. You won't abandon me-You will always be with me-and I am so grateful. Now please bless my sleep so I'm refreshed and renewed for a victorious day tomorrow. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
