Where Life Starts

Our hearts have the capacity to feel emotions deeply all around the spectrum. To love deeply, to hurt deeply, to dream deeply. We oftentimes make decisions because of what our hearts feel, and when our hearts are involved, we are all in. And everything we do is dictated from this tender place, where the heart fuels our decisions, the things we value, the things we’re willing to fight for. Your heart is where life starts. And because of that, the bible tells you to guard it, to keep watch over it. When you are able to do this – to guard your heart, to watch your steps – the path God is leading you on will stretch out before you. Because your heart is where life starts, God has created it with such depth – with purpose and intention – and when we guard it and protect it, we allow only the things in that God intended for us. And the outcome is a passion that can change the world around us. Our hearts are fragile and tender but powerful and can be used to bring glory to God in the very best way. How can you guard your heart more carefully today?

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)

Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart and my mind. (Psalm 26:2 ESV)

Happy are those whose hearts are pure, for they shall see God. (Matthew 5:8 TLB)

Prayer:
You have created my inmost being, Lord. You know my heart better than anyone else. Help me guard it, Jesus, so that I can bring You glory.
