Thirst for God

When the weather is scorching or you’ve just finished a long, hard workout, there’s nothing more enjoyable and satisfying than drinking an ice cold carbonated beverage. But not long after that last swallow, thirst arises for another. And another. As in life, when you face the heat of trials or you’re playing hard in the fast lane, there are many ways to comfort and satisfy – for a while. Temporary fixes are short lived. When you drink from the fountain of truth in God’s Word and embrace the way He has for you, you will be deeply satisfied in the wellspring of His grace. He is the water of life and eternity.

The LORD will always lead you, satisfy you in a parched land… You will be like a watered garden and like a spring whose waters never run dry. (Isaiah 58:11 CSB)

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.” (John 6:35 CSB)

Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. (Psalm 107:8-9 NIV)

But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life. (John 4:14 AMP)

Father, thank You for Your fountain of love, joy, and goodness in my life. Nothing can compare to the lasting satisfaction You bring to my soul. Amen.
