The Shepherds Told Their Story

After the shepherds had seen Him, they told everyone. They reported what the angel had said about this Child. All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. (LUKE 2:17–18)

Thw shepherds were excited. Their night sky had lit up with a host of heavenly angels. They’d heard the good news that a Savior had come. They went to Jerusalem and saw Him. Everything was exactly the way the angel had described it—a baby wrapped up in strips of cloth and lying in a manger. The shepherds worshiped the newborn King.

Okay, now what? What if the shepherds just went back to their fields, yawned, and went to sleep?

That would be crazy! With all that excitement, they should do something.

In fact, the shepherds were so excited that they started talking about their amazing night. They acted as television reporters to the people nearby. They lined up the facts and told everything that had happened. They started with the angel’s words and then, they told about going to see Jesus themselves.

You do the same thing every day. Something happens—it doesn’t have to be a big thing—and you tell someone about it.

It’s normal and right to talk about your day. It’s also great to tell others about what God has done for you today. Thanking others for prayer, asking for forgiveness, or seeking advice from wise mentors can all be ways to keep your day focused on God.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, Your story in the Bible is so exciting. Help me tell that story to someone this week. Today, I want to journal about something You’ve done recently in my life. Give me a time to share that story with someone.
