The Real You

Jesus is never disappointed in you. Read that sentence again: Jesus is never disappointed in you. Think about it: to be disappointed, He’d have to have expected better. But unlike you, He doesn’t have unrealistic expectations of you. He doesn’t hold you to the same impossible standards you set for yourself. He isn’t desperately hoping that somehow you’ll do better or be better than you really are.

He knows exactly who you are. He knows exactly how “weak” and imperfect you are. But He’s the One who chose to make you human and vulnerable and real—and He embraces all that comes with it. He is gentle and tender with you. Patient and forgiving. He has such compassion for you and all you’re going through. Better than anybody else, He knows how hard it is for you to be you. So take a deep breath, shake off the weight of guilt and shame, and rest in His deep love for you today.

He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Matthew 12:20 NLT

He knows how we were made. He remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:14 ICB

Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. I Corinthians 15:43 NLT

Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because He was tempted in every way that we are. Hebrews 4:15 CEV

Jesus, thank You for loving me—the real me—so fully and completely. Thank You for being so kind and patient with me. Help me, in my weakness, to bring You glory.
