The Privilege of Knowing God

We have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

Colossians 1:9–10 NLT

There is nothing greater in life than knowing God and His Son, Jesus Christ—this is our highest calling, greatest purpose, deepest love, richest treasure, and fullest joy. Above all, as you pray for your children, pray they will know Him---personally, fully, truly, and completely.

What an awesome privilege your children have been given to know God. This is why they were created—not just to hear about God, not just to learn about God, not just to read about God, not just to know about God, but to actually know God in reality and in truth.

Your children's hearts were made to be filled with Him, talk with Him, fellowship with Him, walk with Him, worship Him, and delight in Him. They were meant to know what He thinks, feel what He feels, and desire what He desires. That has always been God's plan for all of us—to know Him, enjoy Him, and glorify Him.

Tomorrow we will learn more about praying to know God closely. We will pray intentionally about being a living testimony of God’s goodness. Today, prepare your heart for this time of devotion with this short prayer:

Lord, I am thankful that You have given me the great gift of knowing You. Help me to listen for Your voice, to trust in Your Word, and to rely on You in everything. Let our Christian community be a light to all. Use our lives to share Your voice, Your heart and Your Word with others.

You will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:10 NLT
