Powered by the Spirit

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. ROMANS 8:14 NLT

The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. (I Corinthians 4:20 NIV

God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us. (I John 4:13 NLT)

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30 NIV)

For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (II Corinthians 3:17 NLT)

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. (Romans 8:11 NLT)

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. (Ephesians 3:16 NLT)

Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty—you will succeed because of My Spirit. (Zechariah 4:6 TLB)

A NOTE FROM CANDACE

“Mighty hero, the LORD is with you!” (Judges 6:12 NLT)

Wow, what a greeting! That’s how the angel of the Lord greeted a man called Gideon.

Have I mentioned Gideon was hiding at the time? Anxious and fearful. Anything but fierce. Nothing like being strong and courageous or brave.

But God saw something Gideon did not. God knew what He could do—what He could turn Gideon into—by the power of His Spirit.

God raised up Gideon—and countless other men and women in Scripture, men and women throughout history and even today—to become “mighty heroes” in His kingdom, to do amazing things for His glory.

“By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.” (Hebrews 11:33–34 NLT)

They were weak. But He is strong.

These men and women were unstoppable.

And so are we—you and me.

We can do anything and everything God calls us to do because His Spirit gives us strength. His Spirit gives us power, and purpose, and peace. His Spirit gives us wisdom. His Spirit gives us courage and grace. Isn’t that incredible? I’m excited, are you excited? Let’s be excited about the adventure God has for us!

And hey, remember—being unstoppable doesn’t always mean doing outwardly amazing things. Sometimes it means being faithful in the little things. Fighting our own private battles, overcoming our own inner struggles that only Jesus sees. The same Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 6:10) will help us in the small and the not-so-small challenges of life.

Have you experienced God’s Spirit working in and through you? Was there a time when you walked through something that took courage and at the end you wondered, “How did God’s Spirit do that?”
