Jesus the Good Shepherd

We're about halfway through Holy Week now - how are you feeling about this season?

We pray that you're feeling encouraged and closer to Jesus. Remember, the point of Lent and this entire season is not to be better or do better; it’s simply about Jesus. We set aside this time to point our hearts and minds toward Jesus as we prepare to celebrate Easter. Jesus truly is the reason for this season!

Today we are going to take a look at some of Jesus's words that were recorded in the book of John. In John 10, Jesus tells us He is "the good shepherd." When He explains what that means, He basically outlines the Good News for us. Just look:

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” (verse 11)

“I am the good shepherd. I know My own and My own know Me, just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” (verses 14-15)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” (verses 27-28)

Do you see that? Jesus knows His sheep. He gave His life for His sheep, and He gave them eternal life. Friend, we are the sheep! We are His flock if we listen to His voice and follow Him. And when we do, He protects us and never lets us go.

Isn’t that the very best news?! We are praying for you today!
