He Saved Us

God decided that what

this lost and wayward world

needed most was not correction,

but the ultimate gracious gift.

That’s why he gave us himself,

wrapped in a baby-sized miracle

and delivered with relentless love.

Lord, even after our

colossal rejection

of your loving leadership

in the Garden of Eden

you never gave up on us.

From before the world began

you intended to do whatever it took

to make a way for us to come back to you

so we could enjoy your presence forever.

Such love and loyalty for mere creatures

is way too much for us to comprehend;

eternity will be too short to express

the thanks you deserve.

Today’s Reading: Titus 3:4-5.

When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
