Getting to Dream Big

Have you ever counted how many times you say “I have to…” a day? From mundane things like “I have to go to work” and “I have to do the dishes” to spiritual things like “I have to pray about it” and even as far as “I’m having to wait on His timing.” The result could be very daunting and overwhelming and leave you feeling rather frustrated. But what if you shifted your focus? What if you started to say things like, “I get to wait on God’s timing” or ”I get to dream big for the Lord and see what happens.” While it may feel hard and unnatural, it will begin to transform your thinking. We oftentimes look at things that feel overwhelming in a negative way, and that causes us to feel stressed or anxious when thinking about them. But if we begin to think optimistically about things instead, they become blessings in our lives instead of stresses. What are some ways you can change your thinking from “have to” to “get to” today?

Fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. (Philippians 4:8 GNT)
