Ducks in a Row

May the God of peace.. Equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. HEBREWS 13:20-21

My husband and I knew pretty quickly after we started dating that we wanted to be together forever. After over a year of dating, we decided to look for engagement rings. Little did I know he purchased the ring immediately after we looked. Fast forward about six months, and he popped the question. I never knew he had the ring hidden in his closet for half a year before he proposed until after we were engaged. He waited because he wanted to have all of his “ducks in a row.” He was studying for the CPA exam, as he was in accounting, and he wanted to wait until he passed all of the tests before we got engaged. Turns out, he ended up passing the last one after we got engaged.

Sometimes we feel like we need to have our ducks in a row before we make the next step in our lives. We say things like: “After my vacation . . . ” or “After I get that promotion . . . ” or even “Once I buy a house, I’ll do this or that.”

When we’re called to do something, we don't have to wait for things to be perfect to get started! We can trust that the Lord has equipped us with what we need in the moment to make the next move.

Sometimes we don’t feel ready yet and want to wait until we get more things accomplished before getting started. As I write this, I think of my business, Sweet Water Decor. I had no idea how to ship items or even have a business plan in place before starting my shop, but I learned along the way, and God equipped me in each area as I needed to learn it. If I had waited until I “knew it all,” I think I’d still be waiting on what He was calling me to do years after I was called.

GO FOR IT!

What are you waiting to start or do until you have your ducks in a row? Maybe you can recall something from your past, or maybe you have yet to come across this time in your life. It can even be simple things like starting a garden or starting that home renovation project—it doesn’t have to be a big life change. When God calls you to move, move! He will equip you along the way, so don’t delay!
