Better Together

The unlikely friendship between Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi, is a beautiful example of what can happen when two people come together and find common ground, despite differences in age, background, culture, or personality. Two people decide to show up and stick around, to be there for each other, to love and support and encourage one another. It isn’t always easy. Building and maintaining a lasting friendship can take hard work. It almost always requires extending grace and offering forgiveness, patience, and understanding. But this kind of friendship is so rewarding and such a gift—a powerful reminder that none of us have to make life’s journey or face life’s hardships alone. We have Jesus, and we have each other.

Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble. Proverbs 17:17 THE MESSAGE

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 NLT

By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Ecclesiastes 4:12 THE MESSAGE

Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Ruth 1:16 NLT

Jesus, thank You for the gift of friendship and for the faithful friends You have given me. Help me to be a faithful friend to others
