Q. How did DaySpring Cards begin?

A. Two pastors in Covina California , Dean Kerns and Don Leetch, started a printing press in one of their home’s garage. They felt the call of God to print tracts and stickers that spread the news of Jesus Christ to the generation in the 1970’s. Then in 1974, an artist, Russ Flint, and a writer, Roy Lessin, caught the vision and began developing cards for Don and Dean to market to Christian stores and DaySpring Cards was born. Read more about it.

DaySpring E-cards

Q. How do I send an e-card?

A. It's easy! From the DaySpring e-card home page, you can browse the categories of e-cards available. By clicking on a category name, you can view the cards available within that category.

Simply click on the thumbnail of the e-card you'd like to see, and the e-card will be enlarged to full size. Some e-cards will play through automatically, and some will prompt you to "turn the page" by clicking on the button labeled "Next".

After you've seen the entire e-card, you can click the "Personalize" button to enter your customized message. Then, click the "Address" button to address and send your e-card!

In the upper left corner of the "envelope" on this page, enter your name and e-mail address. This is like the return address on a letter. This is how the recipient will know who sent the e-card to them! Next, enter the e-mail address of each person to whom you'll be sending the e-card, using commas to separate the e-mail addresses.

If you wish to schedule the delivery of your e-card, you may enter your desired delivery date in the field marked "Send E-card on," using the format "MM/DD/YYYY". If today's date is in that field (the default), then the e-card will be sent immediately when you click "Send."

You may click "Preview" if you wish to see your e-card in its entirety again before sending it. At any point after you've entered the addresses, you may send the e-card by clicking the "Send" button.

Q. Can I cancel, change or resend an e-card?

A. Unfortunately once the send button is clicked, the e-card cannot be canceled, changed, or retrieved. Due to the large number of e-cards sent, DaySpring.com technical support is unable to respond to e-mail requests regarding the deletion, change, or delivery of a specific e-card.

If you think that you have made an error in addressing the e-card, you can always return to the DaySpring web site and send the e-card again to the correct recipient. Since DaySpring e-cards are free, there is no extra cost.

Q. How do I retrieve an e-card?

A. The e-mail notification we sent you contains a URL (web address) for the e-card you received. It's a line in the middle of the message that is probably underlined and a different color. Click on this link to go directly to your e-card.

If clicking on the link doesn't work, try copying and pasting the e-card address into the address bar of your browser. Once you've pasted the address in, hit Enter to go to your e-card.

Finally, you can go to our pickup page at www.dayspring.com/ecards/pickup.asp. Enter your e-card retrieval number exactly as it appears in the e-mail notification you received.

Q. Are DaySpring e-cards really free?

A. Yes! There are no charges, hidden costs, or gimmicks associated with sending or receiving DaySpring e-cards. We are happy to offer this free ministry to DaySpring Cards’ web site users.

Q. Why didn't the person I sent my e-card to receive it?

A. The most common cause for this problem is a mistyped address. If you entered a typo in the e-mail address, your e-card could not be delivered to the correct recipient. Make sure the e-mail address is correct.

It is also possible that your recipient has e-mail blocking set up in his or her e-mail program. Or, their business or Internet service provider could be blocking all e-mail from a particular server. A solution would be for you to forward a copy of the e-card's URL to your recipient. The e-card's URL will be in the e-mail notification you received from us, and it will look like http://www.dayspring.com/ecards/card.asp?id=12345.

Another possible explanation is that an erroneous future delivery date was specified for the e-card. We deliver cards on the date you specify regardless of when the holiday or event occurs. It could be that the date you specified has not yet been reached. Remember to use the "MM/DD/YYYY" format to specify the date for the future delivery of e-cards.

Lastly, at peak times the delivery of e-cards may be delayed due to the heavy volume being sent.

Q. Do the cards take up any space on my computer?

A. No. DaySpring e-cards are viewed over the Internet with your web browser. The notifications you receive in your e-mail are only small text messages with a hyperlink to your e-card, and they do not contain any attached files.

Q. How do I subscribe/unsubscribe to the DaySpring Cards mailing list?

A. If you would like to receive occasional updates from DaySpring, featuring devotional messages and updates about DaySpring e-cards and web store products, you can go to this page, and submit your e-mail address.

If you would like to stop receiving our devotional messages and updates, visit our unsubscribe page. Simply submit your e-mail address on that page to have it removed from our database.

Q. Can I get a virus from DaySpring e-cards?

A. There is no way you can get a computer virus from DaySpring e-cards. The cards are viewed over the Internet with your web browser. The notifications you receive in your e-mail are only small text messages with a hyperlink to your e-card, and they do not contain any attached files.

Q. Where can I buy the music featured on your e-cards?

A. Some of the music used in our cards is provided in partnership with a Christian music company. Look for the URL of the company in the beginning of an e-card. The majority of that music is available for retail sale and we suggest you contact the music company for more information. If there is not a web site listed as the e-card is loading, the music used for that card is not available for retail sale.

Q. Why don't you offer an address book to store e-mail addresses of people to whom I send e-cards?

A. The short answer is expense and complexity. In exchange for keeping our e-card service free - both free from cost to you and free from advertising - we are forced to keep the service basic and efficient. We have chosen to invest our limited time and money almost exclusively in creating the highest quality e-cards and in buying computer hardware and software to keep the site as fast as possible.

TIP: Create and save a document on your computer "desktop" that contains a list of commonly used e-mail addresses for e-cards. Use the "cut" and "paste" feature of your computer to accurately and efficiently put e-mail addresses into the "Send To:" field.

Q. What do you do with the e-mail addresses of the people I send e-cards to?

A. We do not use or share the e-mail addresses of the people who receive our e-cards.

Q. What is DaySpring's Privacy Policy?

A. DaySpring is committed to making your experience on our web site enjoyable and safe. When you send a DaySpring e-card, the information you provide is used to customize and deliver your greeting.

When you send a DaySpring e-card, the button, "Receive news and updates from DaySpring.com" at the bottom automatically opts you in to receive occasional devotional messages and product updates. This will allow your e-mail address to be added to our mailing list, and you will receive occasional devotions and updates from DaySpring. You can unsubscribe from this list at any time.

As stated in DaySpring's privacy policy, your e-mail address will not be shared with any third party without your prior approval. You may view DaySpring's complete privacy policy online.

Q. How long do I have to view an e-card?

A. An e-card remains available for viewing on our site for 30 days.  For your security, cards sent more than 30 days ago are permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved.  For more about retrieving e-cards click here.

Q. When I send a single e-card to a list of people at the same time, can the recipients view each other’s e-mail addresses?

A. No. Each e-card recipient receives a “unique” copy e-card and only the card sender name and e-mail address are displayed to the individual recipient.

Q. Why does your web site keep asking if I want to download “Adobe Flash?”

A. The Adobe Flash Player is a free Internet plug-in that allows you to view multimedia content such as DaySpring E-Cards through your Internet browser. The Flash Player program is provided directly to you by Adobe and all technical problems with downloading the Flash plug-in should be directed to Adobe.

Q. Why can't I view some e-cards?

A. DaySpring currently offers three different versions of our free e-cards. The card thumbnail image will show you what to expect from a card.

We first started offering e-cards in the late 1990s. The cards we made then were high-quality inspirational images that you could attach your thoughts to and send to a friend. The advantage of these cards is that they are very small, quick to download, and compatible with every known web browser.

Later we began offering vibrant new Flash cards. The cards were still beautiful and inspirational, but they required an additional browser plugin – Flash Player. The Flash Player is available for almost every browser and all of the common operating systems since Windows 95. Using Flash to create cards let us do new things with animation and music, making our free e-cards even more exciting. Cards labeled with a thumbnail like this one will require Flash Player version 6 or higher. Download the Flash Player here.

In 2006, DaySpring began creating cards that require Flash Player version 8 or higher. Upgrading to this newer version of the Flash Player means that you can see the great new content that DaySpring is offering, like The Christian Music Collection. Using the newer technology means that we can offer an even higher level of excitement and quality in our free e-cards. Download the Flash Player here.

Unfortunately, there is no Flash Player 8 for operating systems as old as Windows 95 or Mac OS 9. Those operating systems are no longer supported by their manufacturers, and Adobe has no plans to continue developing players for them. Other operating systems such as Linux and MSNTV may eventually get updated players.

A. DaySpring.com has partnered with a limited number of large web sites and retail partners to bring DaySpring branded e-cards to their respective sites. At this time we are only able to partner with a select group of highly trafficked web sites that reflect the mission vision and core values of DaySpring Cards.
